Indian Mango
1. Alphonso
It is known king of all mango. It is a grafted mango variety which is introduced by Portuguese.
Alphanso named after Afonso de Albuquerque a military genaral of Portugal. Its is most experience mango in India . It is the most popular variety across the world. Maharashtra and Karnataka is the highest producing Alphanso state. There are two famous variety of mango in Maharashtra . Both mangos are similar there is only little bit difference due the orgin.
A. Ratnagiri Alphanso : Ratnagiri mangos are smaller in size with Delicate skin. During ripening process it attain sweetness mean if you eat semi ripe that would be sweet.
B. Devgad Alphanso: they are larger in size compare to Ratnagiri with thick skin. It has strong aroma than Ratnagiri. It attains sweetness after ripening it would be sour be eaten unripe mango.
Taste and Colour : Alphanso are creamy tender texture and non fibrous. They are golden yellow colour when ripened.
Main region : Maharashtra Devgad and Ratnagiri economical mango from Karnataka.
Season : mangos season depends on geographical area of farm, climate and soil, Devagad farm are located at slightly north of goa where Ratnagiri farm are in Ratnagiri district which 100km from Devgad.
Alphanso season starts March to May.
How to eat
1. Can be cut and peeled easily for purpose for eating.
2. Good making fruit salads.
3. Can make mango sorbet or smoothies.
4. Aamras can be made which common in every Indian family.
5. Can be cut into cubes for decorating dessert.
Note: In 2019, Alphanso Mango is introduced by Malavi Africa to the Indian market. It was transplant from Indian Alphanso. It was come in the month of November . But there was no match with Indian Alphanso.
2. Totapuri Mango
It looks like parrot so it named as totapuri . The tree of totapuri is medium size . The fruits size are 300gm. It become greenish yellow when ripened. Totapuri is cultivated inmay states . But Bangalore's totapuri is main area. It is also known as bangalora.
Taste and colour : Totapuri are mild sweet in nature . They are green in colour it get greenish yellow when repined. It is non fibrous mango.
Main region : Bangalore Karnataka and south India
Season : it starts from the month of April to may
How to eat
1. This is also easy for cutting because of its size and hard texture.
2. Can be eaten raw with peri peri salt.
3. Best for mango salsa.
4. Can be added to the mango salad.
5. Can make shakes .
3. Badami Mango
This is from South India . It is known from its colur and shape. It is also known as Alphanso of South. It has average size which can be upto 400gm. It also known as safeda mango. It is pulpy mango best for mango shakes.
Taste and Colour : they are sweet when ripened when . If you eat during pre season it would be sour be careful during purchasing mango. They are golden yellowish in colour.
Main region : Karnataka
Season : May to July starting

4. Chausa Mango
This is from Uttar Pradesh . They are sweet mangos . It surface has white bloom.
This mango are fibrous. They are late mango because it came in the last of the season.
Chaunsa Mango got its name from a village called Chaunsa in Malihabad Tehsil of Lucknow. They are in medium size .
Taste and colour : chausa mango are sweet creamy texture and it has greenish yellow colour .
Main region : Uttar Pradesh
Season : may to July end
How to eat
Chausa only is good direct eating because it is fibrous mango.
5. Mulgao Mango
Mulgao mango is from Tamil Nadu. It also known as Mulagova, they big size dark colour mango. They look like wild mango due it’s apperance with mango sap . It also uneven in size. They doesn’t change colour after ripening . Most pulpy mango. They grown in tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Taste and colour : Mulgao are full of pulp due it’s size . It has sweet taste. They are greenish in colour when ripened.

6. Rajapuri Mango
Rajapuri is known for its big size it can be 500gm to 1kg .they have good aroma and taste. They have good demand in European market.

7. Raspuri Mango
They are small mango like lalbag but big in size. Raspuri are oval shape mango with excellent flavour and juicy in texture, considered as the Queen of Mangoes in India.
Taste and colour : it has mix taste of sweet and sour. It looks greenish from bottom and red from stem.
Region : Karnataka
Season : April to June

8. Bangampalli
They are big mango similar to badami mango but big in size. It has average size 300 to 400 gm. It is known only in south indian states.
Taste and colour: It has creamy texture like badami mangos but more sweet. It has greenish yellow colour skin.

Region : Andhra Pradesh

10. Lalbaug Mango
These mango are small in size . They come early in the season and last till May.
It has red and greenish skin . This mango is also from South. It has mix taste of sweet n sour.
Raw lalbag mango can be eaten with flavored salt. It get shrinked at ripening stage .
Taste and color : It has sweet and tangy taste with yellowish flesh . It has least pulp . It has green and reddish skin.
Season : late March to June start
Region : Karnataka
How to eat
1. They are good in directly eating . It is small in size so difficult in cutting.
2. Pulp can extract but it has least pulp.
3. Can’t make share or smoothies due to the least pulp. You can enjoy raw or semi ripe mango with salt.
11. Kesar Mango
Kesar are sweetest and famous mango after Alphanso. It has attractive shape colour and aroma.
It has beautiful curved tip. Best quality kesar mango come from Gujarat. The mango is said to have been known as "Kesar" since 1934 when the Nawab of Junagadh Muhammad Mahabat Khan III.
Taste and colour : Kesar are sweet mango with golden colur creamy texture pulp . It long shape with curved tip. Mango has golden yellow skin .
Season : June to July early
Region : Gir and Kutch Region of Gujarat

12. Langda Mango
Greenish mango from Uttar Pradesh named on lame farmer of Varanasi. It is also known as Banarasi langra. It has sweet taste full of pulp . The size can be upto 400 to 500gm. It is fibrous mango but less than chausa. When it get ripened it skin become light green.
Taste and colour : Langra are sweet in taste full of pulp . It has more water compared to other mangos. It is firbous mango then you can cut and have it. It has green in colur when raw it get light green when ripened.
Season : June to July
Region : Varanasi , Uttar Pardesh
How to eat
1. Can cut and eaten directly and can sip it because it fibrous mango .
13. Dasheri Mango
Dasheri first planted by Nawabs of Lucknow in their garden. Mahilabad is the largest producing dasheri in uttar pradesh, it is sweet mango which long in shape. It has big seed as compared to others mangos. Dasheri is the most consumed mango in northern India.It is best for sipping.
Taste and colour : It has sweet taste and attractive aroma . It may be greenish or golden yellow in colur.
Season : June to July
Region : Uttar Pradesh , Bihar and Andhra Pradesh

14. Mango Pairi
It is medium size mango best known for its taste and strong aroma. It has strong aroma which is different from any other mango . These mango were sticky due to the sop. It looks similar to lalbag but it is pointed at bottom. It is extremely juicy. It is available early in the season.
Taste and colour: they are sweetest mango like honey greenish in colur something it get reddish colur on top like lalbag.
Season : April to May
Region: Gujarat
How to eat
1. It is best for aamras it is alternative to kesar in Gujarat.
2. It can be sip.
15. Mango Mallika
It is grafted mango . It is created by hybridization of Neelam and Dasheri mango.
So it is long long dasheri and has skin like Neelam. It doesn’t have fiber. It is extremely sweet mango. Plant of mango is semi dwarf size.
Taste and colour: It has sweetness with tinges of honey, citrus and melon. Colur may be greenish or golden yellow depends upon season .
Season: June and July
Region: It is hybrid mango so it can grow all over India.

16. Imam pasand
It has different name imam mango, hamam mango, himam mango and Himayat mango.
It has big size mango almost 800gm best grown mango in south Indian states. It has soft skin and easy to bite. It has lot of pulp.
Taste and colour : Mango has excellent sweet aroma, sweet in taste and it has greenish yellow colour.
Season: May to June
Region: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu

17. Himsagar
This is mango from Malda West Bengal, it has size 350gm it is similar like himam pasand but smaller in size. It take time in ripening. It has thin skin and absent of fibre.
Taste and colour : It is sweet mango with smooth Creamy texture and it has greenish colour skin.
Season : Mid May to June
Region : West Bengal

18. Sindhuri Mango
It has red colur like Tommy Atkin mango . It is medium in size sweeter in nature .
Sindhoora’ is also called ‘honey’ mango owing to its super sweet nature.

Region : Tamil Nadu

1. They are good in directly eating . It is small in size so difficult in cutting.
2. Pulp can extract but it has least pulp.
